Fundraising Ideas
1. Solicit a Major Sponsor
The major sponsor would get maximum exposure with the possible use of banners, sponsor board, programs, scorecards, pencils etc.
2. Solicit Sponsors for Holes
1-18
Some contracts allow for the Sponsor to decorate the hole with Company marketing material. Some contracts also offer exposure in the Tournament Program or other venue for their hole Sponsorship. Multiple hole Sponsorships can also be sold as part of your program.
3. Other Sponsor Categories
Different Sponsor categories can be established such as Pencil Sponsor, Advertising in the hole sponsor, Scorecard Sponsor, Hole in one Sponsor, Patron Board Sponsor etc.
4. Raffles
Ask for raffle prize donations or live auction prize donations with stipulated value in your sponsorship contract. Raffle off 10 rounds of golf from your local area. $5.00 for 1 ticket - $10.00 for 3 tickets. Winner announced during evening.
5. Auctions
Have a live auction or silent auction.
6. Skills Contests
Utilize a live auction donation or a raffle prize donation as a prize for a skill contest. Set up 4 skill contests and charge $15.00 if a player enters all 4 contests, or they can enter on an individual basis for $5.00 per event. Event winner gets the prize you could also offer a 50/50 cash return on any event.
7. Bar Revenue Bar revenue can be substantial with enough players and a party atmosphere. A temporary liquor license is a consideration. Sometimes the location can be obtained for free in exchange for the liquor revenue. Food can also make some money if provided at a profit.
8. Gambling Games
Have some gambling games for $5.00 per player. Double or nothing
circle or Money Pyramid are examples. Check here for gambling
games.
9. $10,000.00 Putt!
Have a $10,000.00 putt. It costs approx. $250.00 to insure a $10,000.00 putt where one person gets to try and make a 60 ft. putt for the $10,000.00. Sell qualifying attempts for $5.00 for three balls and $10.00 for 7 balls. All qualifiers play off until one person wins the opportunity to make the 60ft. putt. Makes for an exciting event and could be used in area advertising.
10. Skins Game
Have a skins game with 50% going to the fundraiser. $5.00 entry.
11. 50/50 Tournament
Have a 50/50 individual tournament. $5.00 entry.
12. Other Thoughts
Often times the location, food, and graphic design work can be obtained in exchange for advertising exposure or in the case of location in exchange for bar revenue.
